Der Bake Oven has been in the same location in Berlin Ohio, in the heart of Amish Country, for 27 years. Ruth Mast has been the owner for the past 14 years after working for the previous owners since 1987. When the opportunity came up to buy the business in January 1997, Ruth purchased it.

Owning and operating a bakery/cafe shop has always been a dream of Ruths. She came from a big family of Bakers per say. "My grandpa and grandma had an in-home bakery and my Aunt Emma also had a bakery". Ruth would go and help them out in the summer time as a young girl. She just loved seeing those fresh baked rolls and breads coming out of the oven. The aroma was delicious as Aunt Emma would say. She enjoyed being up in the early hours of the day while the rest of the world was still asleep to help with baking.
